Our first Chart of the Day this week looks at Facebook Messenger’s recent move to allow multiple accounts to be used on one device.

The new function is a shrewd move by Messenger; among its current user base, 31% say they are sharing their mobile with at least one other person. And with 1 in 10 users sharing a mobile with 4+ people, it’s clear that one install of Messenger could bring an entire family into Facebook’s platform.

Particularly key here is that rates of mobile sharing peak in fast-growth countries, precisely the markets where Messenger has been struggling to gain the type of success that it has seen in North America. This new multi-account functionality could help to address this.
