Continuing our look at online content consumption, today’s post focuses on the numbers who are watching films online.

Over the last year, the overall figure grew to 57%, making films the most popular type of long-form content. Watching TV on-demand is rising too, passing the 50% mark for the first time during 2013.

But it’s live streaming of TV shows which has seen the biggest year-on-year increase of all. Globally, more than 175 million extra people started doing this during the last twelve months, a reflection of just how important this behavior has become.
