With Facebook’s annual F8 conference beginning, today we look at one of the company’s key strengths – the willingness of social media users to engage with the full range of complementary platforms that Facebook owns.
To take a particular example, it’s now close to 70% of WhatsApp users who say they also use Facebook Messenger regularly. European WhatsAppers may lag behind slightly for this multi-app usage but in LatAm, it’s almost 80% of WhatsAppers who are using Facebook’s other messaging app.
Facebook may be experimenting with ways to monetize WhatsApp but these figures show that there is the clear potential for Facebook to retain the stripped-down messaging focus of WhatsApp while engaging WhatsAppers with commerce integrations on Facebook Messenger.
