Visiting news services is among the most popular online activities tracked by GlobalWebIndex and, as today’s Chart of the Day shows, these sites have an appeal which crosses the age breaks.

While 87% of 16-24s are visiting an online news service each month, so too are 81% from the oldest age group (the 55-64s). Even when we look at news apps (used by 41% each month), engagement figures are once again remarkably even across the age groups. In this context, it’s no surprise that online press is now grabbing more of internet users’ time per day than print press.
