Just how social has the global internet audience become? How long are people spending on their favorite networks each day?

According to our latest research, about 20% of the internet audience are fairly lite social networkers – logging on for no more than 30 minutes each day. A similar proportion are connecting for between 30 minutes and an hour.

Significantly, though, over 40% of internet users estimate their daily time spent social networking at more than an hour. And nearly half of this group are pretty heavy-duty users, clocking up to 3 hours or more on networks during a typical day.

But perhaps the most telling statistic here is that only just over 10% of internet users report spending no time at all on social platforms – illustrative of the huge reach that they command.
