In a new addition to our survey, we now ask internet users how long they spend listening to music streaming services daily. Here we focus on how these figures differ by world region.
Overall, it’s North Americans who post the highest figures – averaging just over 1 hour and 20 minutes daily. That North America records a higher number than regions like APAC, despite the latter containing a range of fast-growth markets with relatively young online populations, affirms this region’s enthusiasm for online entertainment.
Yet this data also tells us why the likes of Spotify and Apple Music have been so keen to establish themselves in a range of markets across LatAm and APAC. Although logistic and legal issues prove difficult in some of these places, strong engagement levels together with the fact that digital consumers in many of these countries are more likely to be paying for this content makes them ideal future growth opportunities.
