Across GlobalWebIndex’s 33 surveyed countries, a third of adult internet users say that they currently own a Samsung phone. But although this puts the Korean brand in the number 1 spot, things may not stay this way for long.

While it might be a fifth who say they currently own an iPhone, Apple tops the list in terms of future purchase consideration at an impressive 29% (7 points ahead of Samsung). Clearly, the power of the Apple brand is as strong as ever.

The situation in the key market of China is particularly important here. Among its mobile-first and affluent internet population, 23% say they currently own an iPhone but a significant 35% are interested in getting an Apple handset in the future.
