On average, this audience is devoting around 45 minutes longer to social media than the typical North American digital consumer. This is a trend which holds true across all age groups, and underlines just how big the opportunity is for publishers to capture the attention of readers.
Indeed, with more than 1 in 2 in all age groups citing news consumption as a main reason for using social media, it’s clear that this is emerging as a primary way of consuming news, especially among mobile-first younger users.
