Twitter has seen challenging times lately but with a new permanent CEO now in place, it will be looking to re-energize its efforts to grow user numbers and revenue. The new Moments feature could be a key factor in this.

Moments, which presents users with a curated selection of tweets related to particular topics, will appeal to Twitter users. Already, the most popular activity on Twitter is reading news stories – 41% of Twitter active users say they did this last month. And with passive browsing and checking the trending topics rounding off the Top 3 Twitter actions, it’s obvious that, while Twitter users may not always be engaging directly, they are certainly on the lookout for information and news.

Moments appeals directly to these users and points the way to Twitter’s potential future as an efficient portal for news and information discovery.
