With almost all internet users visiting/using social networks each month, the reach of this medium has become vast.
What’s equally clear is that mobiles have become the go-to device for this behavior, supplanting once-dominant PCs/laptops. Each month, 8 in 10 internet users globally are now visiting/using social networks on their mobiles – giving these devices a 6-point lead over PCs/laptops.
With smartphones now the most commonly owned devices in virtually all fast-growth markets, and the same transition taking place in several mature ones, it’s inevitable that mobiles will expand this lead further in the near future.
As always, age is also crucial here: smartphones are significantly ahead among the key 16-24 demographic.
