For our final Chart of the Day this week, we look at an online activity that has long been mainstream: online banking.

It’s now three quarters of digital consumers who are using an internet banking service. And although many still value the functionality and perceived security that PCs/laptops offer, recent growth can be traced to the rise of the smartphone – almost half of internet users are banking online using their mobile and close to two thirds of those who are banking online are doing so on a smartphone at least some of the time.

Unlike many other digital behaviors, online banking is also an activity where we see almost equal figures across the age groups. In fact, online 55-64s are just as likely to be engaging as 16-24s.
